Cruz Azul is experiencing tumultuous days since the start of the Clausura 2025 Tournament. On January 23, in the midst of negotiations between the board and Martín Anselmi regarding his departure, it is reported that the star signing of Mateusz Bogusz is in jeopardy, opening the possibility for other interested clubs.
The arrival of Bogusz's representative in Mexico City was expected to finalize the deal with the celestes, but the Polish player refused to take the flight from the United States. He communicated to the board that the coach's departure created uncertainty for him, thus cooling the negotiations. Teams like América have joined the race for the player, conducting inquiries about his contractual conditions.
In previous weeks, it had been mentioned that Cruz Azul was competing with MLS clubs for the signing of Anselmi, such as San Diego FC. Regarding the possibility of América signing Bogusz in this Clausura 2025, reports indicate that for now they have only inquired without making a formal offer, as the club currently does not have available foreign player slots.
On the other hand, América is considering the departure of Richard Sánchez and Diego Valdés in this market. However, Paraguayan Sánchez has been unable to finalize his transfer to Racing as he refuses to reduce his salary, while Valdés has not received offers up to this point. Additionally, the club has Igor Lichnovsky, who was inactive last tournament due to injury and currently cannot be registered due to a lack of space for non-Mexican trained players.
